The Caller is a phone app for a second person — eyes on the floor, no screen to watch — who calls plays by voice. It pairs to a scorer’s live game; each call shows up in the scorer’s log for them to confirm. The caller never writes the official record — the scorer does.
On the Scorer game screen, tap Pair caller — a QR code and a short pair code appear. On the Caller app, tap “Enable camera & scan” and point it at the QR (or type the pair code). You’ll see a “Paired!” confirmation with the two team names.
Tap Home or Away at the top. Jersey-only calls go to that team. You can also switch teams mid-flow just by saying it — “home 23 three” flips to Home and stays there.
Hold the mic button and speak, or turn on Hands-free and tap once to listen continuously. Say the jersey number then the action:
A printable call sheet in the app lists every phrase.
The caller uses AI to understand natural speech — “number five knocked down a triple” parses fine. If the AI is unavailable it falls back to a fixed grammar, and anything it still can’t parse is relayed as the raw words so the scorer always sees what you said. There’s an AI on/off toggle.
Every call lands in the scorer’s Caller log with a clear label (e.g. Home #23 · made 3) and your exact words underneath. The scorer reads it and taps it in — or approves it — keeping them in full control of the official stats.
